Frequently asked questions

What are your rates?

We typically charge $225 per 50-55 minute session for individuals. Sometimes you may have a longer 75-minute session (please talk to your therapist about this) and the rate for that is $250.

Rates for therapy for more more than one person, for couples, families, or people in relationship therapy, is $250 for 50-55 minutes; for longer, 75-minute sessions, the rate is $275.

Do you take insurance?

Desiree Hedberg is available with Lyra insurance. However typically, Affirming Relationship Therapy does NOT take insurance. We DO provide super bills though! Through your client portal you can submit your suberbills to your insurance for reimbursement. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us!

What are the insurance codes for reimbursement?

The codes (standardized medical codes) to use to reference sessions with your insurance for reimbursement are 90834 (for in person sessions, 50-55 minutes) and 90834-95 (for tele-health, 50-55 minute sessions). You can call your insurance provider and ask them how much they’ll reimburse you for these sessions ahead of time if reimbursement is critical for you.

How many sessions does it take?

Every person is different, so the best answer is: it depends on you and where you’re at in your process. Most clients find that they’re feeling better on average after 3-6 months of weekly treatment.

Sometimes, however, it can take less or more time; it truly depends.

We don’t set a time limit; you can come as many or as few times as you like. We will be in constant dialogue with you on it, and please, never be shy about asking - we’re happy to give you a more personalized answer once we know what you’re working on.

How will I know if it’s a good fit for me?

You will work one-to-one with your therapist. The most important part of therapy is that you develop a strong attachment with your therapist. If for any reason, you don’t feel comfortable - this is one of those space where you can simply say it - we’re not going to get our feelings hurt; we understand how important it is to have a strong attachment.

If after meeting with us for a while, you don’t feel it’s a good fit any longer - just let us know - we’ll make sure you get someone that IS a good fit. Our job is ultimately to find the best fit for you, whether it’s with us, or someone else at Affirming Relationship Therapy, or with someone else within the community!

What is a good faith estimate?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
